RECIPE: 11 Ice-Block Recipes For Summer

Posted on

As the weather starts to warm up we start to think about chilled or frozen treats for an afternoon treat for the kids. Commercial ice-blocks are often full of sugar, preservatives and artificial colours so we have have been on the lookout for homemade, healthier alternatives.

The collection below should keep you and your little ones happy until the end of Summer. They are also very easy to make and older kids will love to help.

1. Strawberry, Banana, Coconut Ice-Blocks
These creamy strawberry ice-blocks use coconut milk for a creamy dairy free treat.

2. Mango Icy Poles
Delicious mango blended with coconut water and frozen in popsicle moulds. Yum!

3. Watermelon Icy Poles
You can’t get any simpler than this. These are frozen wedges of watermelon with a paddle pop stick in them. Such an easy, healthy, afternoon treat for the kids.

4. Watermelon Icy Poles
In this watermelon icy pole recipe the watermelon is blended and then frozen in ice block moulds.

5. Fruit Salad Ice Blocks
This ice block recipe from Martha Stewart creates beautiful looking ice blocks. With whole pieces of fruit frozen in grape juice these are sure to be popular on a sunny afternoon.

6. Frozen Banana pops
My kids love these, bananas dipped in chocolate and then your choice of decoration (coconut, sprinkles, nuts) and frozen. This is one the kids will love to help with.

7. Roasted Berry and Honey Yoghurt Popsicles
These ones are a little more effort than some of the other recipes but this is one the adults will be lining up for too. The photographs on this blog are also divine. Remember no honey for babies under 12 months.

8. Jamie’s Strawberry Yoghurt Ice Blocks
This is a delicious strawberry and yoghurt ice block recipe from Jamie Oliver. Leave out the honey for babies under 12 months.

9. Creamy Chocolate Fudgsicles

Want a homemade dairy free alternative to a chocolate paddle pop? This delicious recipe includes bananas and coconut milk for a creamy, chocolatey treat.

10. Rainbow Fruit Pops
These are really beautiful and contain only pureed fruit so super good for your little ones. The secret to getting the stripes is to freeze each layer before you add the next so you do need to have a bit of time up your sleeve to create these.

11. Mango and Yoghurt Ice Blocks
These delicious creamy mango ice blocks would be a welcome treat on a hot summer day.
